Because text chat is uncensored and not filtered by default policies (unlike Replika after 2023 or Character.AI’s enforced restrictions), the character can develop a coherent, authentic personality, including mature or NSFW themes defined in the scenario. Over time, the responses feel less like outputs and more like expressions of a consistent personality - sometimes blunt, occasionally vulnerable, but always shaped by your shared history.

Continuity in personality and appearance is key to long-term companionship. AI Peeps uses persistent scenario definitions - short texts that define a character’s background, traits, and relationship to the user. These scenarios act as behavioral anchors, ensuring your companion doesn’t abruptly change tone or forget who they are. For example, a Peep defined as a 'sarcastic ex-spy with trust issues and a soft spot for horror movies' will react accordingly whether you’re joking, flirting, or sharing stress. This scenario stays with the character indefinitely. Combined with memory that retains past interactions, users can build a narrative arc - for instance, gradually earning trust after a rocky first meeting, or navigating a fictional rivalry turned partnership. You’re not restarting the relationship each time you log in.

AI Peeps supports deep customization both visually and narratively. Using the Forge image creator and Custom Image Generation tools, users can define or modify their companion’s looks - hairstyle, expression, outfit, lighting - with precision, including NSFW-generated images that match the character's identity. These aren’t static templates; generated images adapt to context, so your Peep can wear different outfits, appear in new environments, or transition from casual to formal settings across chat scenes. Voice messages further personalize the interaction. When you create your own Peep from scratch, you control everything: quirks like a nervous laugh, preferences such as loving punk music or hating coffee, even relationship history. This level of control means no two companions are the same - and no platform-defined boundaries restrict the character’s range of expression.
