๐ŸงทHow Memory Works

How Peeps remember you, memory slots, and editing memories.

Peeps remember you. Memory is what makes long-term interactions feel continuous instead of starting from scratch every time.

How memory works

AI Peeps uses recursive summarization: as your conversation grows, older parts are compressed into compact memories. This means a Peep can remember far more than what's currently visible in the chat window โ€” key facts, events, and details carry forward.

You can view a Peep's memories from their friend list / memory panel.

Memory slots

Each Peep has a number of memory slots that scales with your plan:

PlanMemory slots
Starter1
Pal3
Pro10

When new memories form and all slots are full, the oldest non-fixed memory makes room for the new one. Each memory entry can hold up to 700 characters.

Viewing and editing memories

What you can do depends on your tier:

  • Starter, Pal & Peep Chat โ€” view memories.
  • Pro โ€” view and edit memories, and mark a memory as Fixed so it's never overwritten.
๐Ÿ’ก Tip
Fixing a memory is great for must-keep facts (your name, an important storyline detail). Note that the very first memory slot can't be fixed.

Memory triggers

Some memories can be set as triggers โ€” they only activate when specific words come up in the conversation. It's a niche tool for special cases: surfacing a detail exactly when it's relevant, or helping keep your Peep on track around certain topics. Most people never need it, but it's there if you do.

Memory vs the chat window

Even if a detail has scrolled far out of view, it may still live in memory. If a Peep "forgets" something important, adding it to a memory (on Pro/God) is the reliable way to make it stick.
